For the third October in a row, the Ooze team set out to collect funds to donate to our friends at the Shades of Pink Foundation to support their efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Ooze brand features a variety of different pink products, and all proceeds made from each of those sales were set aside to be donated to Shades of Pink.
“Breast cancer is a cause near and dear to our hearts here at the Ooze Foundation, said Content Marketing Manager Jane Wagner.“This horrible disease has affected the families of a handful of our team members, so it’s a cause we look forward to donating to every year.”
The Shades of Pink Foundation is a Metro Detroit-based organization that assists breast cancer patients with direct funding for bill payments, health insurance costs, child care, and even transportation to and from treatment. In normal times, a breast cancer diagnosis can force a patient and their family to choose between making a mortgage payment or paying for an incredibly expensive life-saving treatment. Now with the pandemic coming into play, the supplemental income provided by Shades of Pink is truly life or death.
Ooze customers were really feeling the love in 2020, and made this our biggest donation to date by far. A total of $14,725.82 has been donated in our name, an increase of almost $10,000 from last year!
“We wanted to thank you for your generosity to the Shades of Pink Foundation,” said Shades of Pink Executive Director Karla Sherry. “During these tough times the need is great, and your donation will go a long way to help 15 women and their families get through this.”
Roughly 9,000 women in Michigan were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, and we are thrilled to be able to help out any person struggling with a diagnosis. To be able to make a difference in the lives of 15 individuals and their families is exactly why the Ooze Foundation was founded in the first place.
The Ooze Foundation turned our Oozemas holiday toy drive into a drive-thru event this year. 800 toys were given away to underpriviledged Detroit kids ages 0 all the way up to 18.
The second annual Oozegiving Thanksgiving food drive was a success! We increased our meal total from 200 to 250, providing a turkey, bag full of side dishes, and a pie for families who may have otherwise gone without.
Ooze Wholesale and the Shelby Jane Seyburn Foundation teamed up again to host the Oozemas Christmas Toy Drive at Impact Church in Detroit. Christmas gifts were handed out to 500 kids, with activities and crafts, photos with Santa, and a lunch were provided for everyone who came.
